Anti-wrinkle Treatment
Getting older happens to us all. Sure, it has its perks – older and wiser are two words that go together. Unfortunately, two things that also go together are ageing and wrinkles.
As we get older our skin loses elasticity. Repetitive frowning and normal facial movements over time can lead to wrinkles, furrows and vertical lines. We tend to notice ageing in these particular areas:
- Frown lines/vertical lines between the eyebrows
- Horizontal lines on forehead when raising the eyebrows
- Crow’s feet, usually seen when smiling fully
It’s not all bad news. Targeted treatment of these areas with anti-wrinkle injections can help turn back the clock and give a more youthful appearance. Most people choose to have 2-3 of these regions treated.
Botulinum Toxin type-A (Botox®, Azzalure ®) causes temporary paralysis of the muscles responsible for movement in the face. This inability to move the muscles reduces the appearance of wrinkles, giving a smoother and more relaxed appearance, and results can last 3-4 months. It has been widely used since the 1980s and has a very good safety record.

FAQs
You will initially have a consultation appointment with Emma Harney, where together you will discuss any concerns you may have. Emma will talk you through your options and the treatment procedure, any possible side effects and the cost of treatment. If you’re happy to go ahead with treatment, we will book you an appointment or you have the option of having the treatment on the day!
Any make-up on the skin of the areas to be treated will first be removed. Emma will then use fine needles to inject a dilute form of the Botulinum Toxin (Botox®, Azzalure®) at specific points in the face. It may be a little uncomfortable, but only very briefly.
The treatment gradually takes effect a few days following treatment and reaches its full effect within 14 days. Treatment lasts on average 3-4 months but can last up to 6 months in some individuals. You will need to have regular treatments to maintain your results.
We will take photos before and after treatment to document your results. These will be stored securely as part of your clinical records.
There is little downtime needed. We will give you some specific aftercare advice, but generally you can go about your normal day after your appointment.
